As part of the 2018 BioSciences Seminar Series, Professor Lesley Hughes will present a Science-Policy Interface Lecture, hosted by Professor Brendan Wintle.

Many academic researchers are motivated by a desire to 'make a difference'. But real incentives within the traditional academic reward system can be scant. Lesley will share some experiences of what has worked, what hasn’t, and the role of luck and circumstance in leaping from the ivory tower, with particular reference to climate change and conservation policy.

This lecture will run for 30 minutes, followed by Q&A and tea, coffee and networking.
