PhD student wins research prize at the Victorian International Education Awards

Wing Yan Chan, a PhD student in the School of BioSciences, was awarded the International Student of the Year - Research award by the Minister for Trade and Investment, Philip Dalidakis.

Seven students from seven different countries were presented with awards including the prestigious Premier’s Award which is worth $10,000. Now in its fifth year, the awards recognise the outstanding accomplishments of the people and institutions that make up Victoria’s thriving international education sector.

Award winners received a scholarship of $10,000 to put towards their studies at a Victorian educational institution – the recipient of the Premier’s Award received an additional $10,000 towards their studies. They go on to become ambassadors for the government’s Study Melbourne initiative, which promotes Victoria as a leading study destination.
