Research interests

Plant and insect community ecology

The Mayfield Lab uses natural systems to explore how land use change impacts plant and insect communities. Our work ranges from theoretical studies on the development and testing of theory on species coexistence and diversity maintenance and more applied work in restoration, ecosystem services, and invasive species

Research projects

  • MIDYEAR. Plant-plant facilitation in a Western Australian wildflower community: exploring mechanisms of positive interactions between native plants
  • MIDYEAR. Native bees in the urban environment: How does the urban landscape impact on native bee diversity and behaviour
  • MIDYEAR. Bringing biological realism to species coexistence models: exploring the types of biological interactions and abiotic factors that impact on plant species success in nature
