Evolutionary and developmental biology
My research seeks to determine the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and evolution of the head and limbs between vertebrates. My reserach has a particular focus on the neural crest and lateral plate mesoderm, transient embryonic tissues which pattern the head and limbs, respectively. I utilize several different vertebrate models, including marsupials and avians, such as chicken and emu, to perform multispecies comparisons
