Area of study / field of expertise
Environmental pollution, land contamination, risk assessment, risk-based decision-making
Previous education
Doctor of Philosophy, School of Botany, University of Melbourne.
Master of Environment (Waste Management), University of Melbourne
Bachelor of Science, Major in Ecology with Co-Major in Environmental Science, University of Melbourne
Victor is an Honorary Fellow at the School of Biosciences. His areas of interest are pollution of soil, water and air, with a particular focus on how risk-based decisions are made in the context of environmental pollution. He enjoys the interface between research and real-world decisions and is interested in how policy-makers, industry managers and other stakeholders can use evidence in their day-to-day work. He has been invited to give multiple seminars on risk assessment methods, effective risk communication and risk-proportionate decision-making.
While holding an honorary position with the University of Melbourne, Victor is employed full-time as a Senior Environmental Advisor in industry and has previously held roles in state government and environmental consulting companies. At the University he carries out independent research, provides supervision to postgraduate students and delivers lectures on risk assessment and risk communication.
